Goshka Macuga

Kate MacGarry is pleased to announce Goshka Macuga’s second solo exhibition in the gallery. The exhibition will include works commissioned by Zachęta National Gallery in Warsaw for Macuga’s first solo exhibition in a public space in Poland in December 2011. The exhibition ‘Untitled’ looked at censorship in Polish Art after 1989, and included a series of large photographs that documented attacks on artists, curators and critics and institutions. Part of the material was from the archive of the museum and the photographic documentation of its exhibitions, these photographic works will be shown alongside an installation of new furniture.

 

Born in 1967 in Poland, Macuga lives and works in London. Her work is showing in Documenta 13, in Kassel and Kabul until 16 September. Recent exhibitions include Untitled, Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw and It Broke from Within, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, 2011, The Nature of the Beast, Whitechapel Gallery, London and I Am Become Death, Kunsthalle Basel, 2009. In December 2012 she will have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
