LAURA ALDRIDGE (b. 1978) lives and works in Glasgow. Aldrige’s work balances painting and sculpture, a state of stasis and mobility. She experiments with material, colour and form to investigate the physicality of a process. RANA BEGUM (b. 1977) lives and works in London. Her work is characterized by the interplay of dense, industrial materials and the impression of weightlessness. She investigates how light and colour can affect form. Begum takes inspiration from minimal, architectural forms and childhood memories of the geometric patterns of traditional Islamic art and architecture. FRANCIS UPRITCHARD (b.1976) lives and works in London. Upritchard experiments with the theme of display, creating installations featuring archetypal figures, which draw on the gothic tradition as well as contemporary folk and psychedelia. She is currently included in Christine Macel’s Viva Arte Viva, The 57th Venice Biennale. Her recent survey exhibition, Jealous Saboteurs, has toured to Monash University Museum of Art, Melbourne, Australia, City Gallery Wellington, Christchurch Art Gallery and Dunedin Public Art Gallery, New Zealand, 2016-2017. Other solo exhibitions include, Francis Upritchard, The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, USA, Whitechapel Gallery Children’s Commission, London, Potato Poem, MIMOCA, Japan, A Hand of Cards, Nottingham Contemporary, UK and A Long Wait, CAC Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
BETHAN LAURA WOOD (b.1983) lives and works in London. Wood’s designs – spanning furniture, glass, jewellery and sculpture – are a riotous culmination of colour, humour and materiality. Her expansive palette and the flamboyant architecture of her structures are key to her artistic language. She has been awarded the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award, 2014 and Designer of the Future Award, Design Miami Basel, 2013. Selected commissions include Nilufar Gallery, Abet Laminati, Kvadrat, Bitossi Ceramiche, Tory Burch, Tolix and Hermés. Her work has been exhibited at the V&A Museum of Childhood, London, Swiss Institute, New York, Daelim Museum, South Korea and MOT, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo.
